Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has outlined a strong infrastructure-focused vision in the Delhi Budget 2026, stating that the government is prioritising large-scale development guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘4S’ mantra—Scope, Scale, Speed, and Skill. The announcement highlights a strategic push to transform the national capital through faster execution of projects, improved quality of construction, and broader urban development coverage.
According to the Chief Minister, the budget places significant emphasis on strengthening core infrastructure across the city. Key areas of focus include the construction of new roads, improved re-carpeting of existing roads, and the development of major urban infrastructure such as flyovers and underpasses. These initiatives aim to ease congestion, enhance connectivity, and ensure smoother transportation for residents.
In addition to roads and transport infrastructure, the government is also planning to expand facilities such as dedicated cycle tracks, modern parking systems, and upgraded public safety infrastructure. This includes the addition of new fire stations, deployment of Quick Response Vehicles (QRVs), and the integration of modern security systems to improve emergency response and urban safety. The overall objective is to create a more efficient, organised, and technologically advanced city framework.
A notable aspect of the budget is its inclusive development approach. The Chief Minister stressed that infrastructure growth will not be limited to central or well-developed areas but will extend to unauthorised colonies, slums, and villages. This indicates a broader effort to ensure equitable urban development and improve living standards across all sections of society. By focusing on these underserved areas, the government aims to bridge infrastructure gaps and provide basic amenities and connectivity where they are currently lacking.
Beyond infrastructure, the Delhi government is also placing importance on youth and sports development. During the ‘Yashotsav 2026’ event held at Yashobhoomi, financial support amounting to ₹15 crore was distributed under the CM Sports Promotion Scheme to encourage athletes. Additionally, laptops were provided to 1,200 meritorious students, and 222 high-performing students from Classes 10 and 12 were honoured for their academic achievements. These initiatives reflect the government’s intent to support talent development alongside physical infrastructure growth.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the role of cultural and creative engagement in the city’s development. She recently attended the red carpet event of the International Film Festival of Delhi (IFFD) 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, reinforcing the government’s support for arts and culture as part of Delhi’s broader growth narrative.
Overall, the Delhi Budget 2026 presents a comprehensive roadmap aimed at transforming the capital into a modern, well-connected, and inclusive city.
