The ambitious Aerotropolis project in Mohali has received a major boost as the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (Gmada) formally issued work orders worth ₹509.20 crore for the development of internal roads and essential infrastructure in pockets B, C, and D. This marks a significant step forward in one of Punjab’s most ambitious township projects, situated strategically near Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport. The Aerotropolis City project spans a massive 5,500 acres, with development planned in phases to ensure structured growth and timely completion. Phase one alone covers 1,650 acres, out of which 927 acres are spread across pockets B, C, and D. Pocket A, however, remains under litigation due to the widely reported “guava scam,” leaving it outside the scope of the present works.
The scope of the newly awarded contracts is extensive, covering civil, public health, and electrical infrastructure. The joint venture M/s SBEIPL-HRG has been entrusted with the task of constructing grid roads, laying sewerage and drainage pipelines, setting up tertiary water systems, and installing underground power cables. According to Gmada, these works are designed to be executed simultaneously to avoid delays and ensure that Aerotropolis evolves as a fully integrated township rather than in fragmented phases. The official deadline for completing the assigned work is April 2026, setting a clear timeframe for contractors and administrators.
