₹430 Cr Bridge Approved at Mir Alam Tank

The Government of Telangana has officially approved a significant infrastructure project—construction of a new bridge across the iconic Mir Alam Tank in Hyderabad. Sanctioned on July 24, 2025, the project carries an estimated budget of ₹430 crores and is part of the state's broader initiative to enhance urban connectivity and infrastructure development in the region.

The proposed bridge aims to link the Bengaluru-Hyderabad National Highway with Chintalmet Road, a move expected to ease traffic congestion and improve transportation access in South Hyderabad. The execution of the project will follow the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode—ensuring streamlined management and accountability.

The Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd. (MRDCL) has been tasked with implementing the project, under the close supervision of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department. While some land parcels are still in the process of acquisition, the state government has assured that construction activities will move forward simultaneously to avoid delays.

To ensure transparency, quality, and timely completion, a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) agency will be selected through a competitive bidding process. The agency will oversee project supervision, quality assurance, and independent audits. All technical designs and drawings submitted by the EPC contractor will undergo expert evaluation and must be approved by a reputed technical institution like JNTU-Hyderabad, followed by a final nod from the PMC.

This landmark project is expected to significantly benefit commuters, boost local development, and serve as a model for future urban infrastructure initiatives across the state. As Hyderabad continues to evolve as a smart and connected city, the Mir Alam Tank bridge is poised to become a vital link in its growing transport network.
