Uttar Pradesh has achieved an extraordinary feat by setting two world records in road construction within a span of just 24 hours. The state successfully constructed a 10-kilometre crash barrier and laid 34.24 lane kilometres of bituminous concrete road, marking a significant milestone in infrastructure development.
This remarkable accomplishment has earned Uttar Pradesh entries in the prestigious Golden Book of World Records, Asia Book of Records, and Indian Book of Records. The state’s achievement highlights the result of exceptional planning, advanced technical expertise, and dedicated teamwork.
In a social media post on platform X (formerly Twitter), Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced, “Uttar Pradesh is moving towards new heights! In just 24 hours, Uttar Pradesh created two world records by constructing a 10 km crash barrier and 34.24 lane km of bituminous concrete!” He added, “Name registered in the Golden Book, Asia Book and Indian Book of World Records! This achievement is a result of excellent planning, technical expertise and committed teamwork of @upeidaofficial. Under the guidance of Honourable Prime Minister @narendramodi ji, #NewUttarPradesh is now becoming an infrastructure state of global standards.”
The credit for this world record goes to Gujarat-based Patel Infrastructure Ltd (PATEL), which has successfully registered its name for the fastest construction of a 6-lane Ganga Motorway project. This motorway is recognized as India’s longest motorway owned by a state, further adding prestige to this accomplishment.
The record-setting work involved laying bituminous concrete on 34.24 kilometres, utilizing 20,105 metric tonnes of bituminous concrete and covering an area of 171,210 square meters. This was achieved within 24 hours of nonstop operations. Simultaneously, a 10-kilometre metal beam crash barrier was installed by PATEL’s ancillary company, Road Shield Private Limited.
Arvind Patel, Managing Director of Patel Infrastructure, expressed pride in the team’s contribution to nation-building through these monumental achievements. He stated, “This is not just a record; it’s a reflection of Indian engineering brilliance and our team’s unwavering spirit.”
The record-setting construction took place on the prestigious Ganga Motorway Project (Group-3), spanning the Hardoi and Unnao districts. Operations commenced promptly at 5:00 am on May 17, 2025, and were completed by 5:00 am on May 18, 2025. The project surpassed target quantities and demonstrated a highly coordinated effort involving engineers, machinery, materials, and skilled labour working seamlessly for 24 hours straight.
This accomplishment by Uttar Pradesh and Patel Infrastructure Ltd stands as a testament to the state’s commitment to world-class infrastructure development and reflects the growing momentum towards transforming Uttar Pradesh into a global infrastructure hub.
